After flying high against the Hurricane Redskins last Thursday, the Winfield Generals came back down to earth. Winfield fell 44-35 to Sissonville on Tuesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Winfield of the 61-57 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2022.
Winfield lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Brooklyn Cole, who scored three points along with five rebounds and four steals. Ashlee Johnson was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with 11 rebounds.
Kynadee Britton continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Sissonville, scoring 25 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. That makes it six consecutive games in which Britton has scored at least a third of Sissonville's points. Another player making a difference was Ava Hillabold, who scored four points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Winfield has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record this season. As for Sissonville, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Winfield will face off against Greenup County at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Sissonville, they will head out on the road to challenge Chapmanville Regional at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Chapmanville Regional is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.
