After a string of three wins, the Heartland Lutheran Red Hornets's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a 48-31 bruising from Fullerton. Heartland Lutheran lost against the Warriors in their previous head to head back in February of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 47-9 score last time.
Ema Koch and Ella Francl certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Koch scored 14 points along with three steals, while Francl scored six points along with 11 rebounds and four steals. Francl is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brielle Saddler, who scored six points along with seven rebounds.
Fullerton was led to victory by Jaci Maxfield and Georgia Bridger. Maxfield scored 15 points along with six steals, while Bridger scored 14 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Maxfield is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Isabel Norman, who scored five points along with six rebounds.
Heartland Lutheran's loss dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Fullerton, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-11.
Heartland Lutheran will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Longhorns at 6:00 p.m. As for Fullerton, they will head out on the road to square off against the Beavers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
