Wausa has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge The Central Valley Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Friday, everything came up roses for Wausa at home against Randolph as the team secured a 44-12 win.
Wausa's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Matthew Schindler, who rushed for 165 yards and three touchdowns. Wausa also got a significant boost from mac carlson, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 94 yards.
Meanwhile, Central Valley put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their undefeated season alive. They claimed a resounding 58-20 victory over Twin Loup at home. Fans of Central Valley have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season ended as a blowout.
Grady Kelley continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 295 yards and five touchdowns on only 14 carries. Kelley was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 54 yards.
Their wins bumped Wausa to 4-4 and Central Valley to 8-0.
Thursday's match might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Wausa has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 247.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Central Valley struggles in that department as they've been even better at 293.9 per game. It's looking like Thursday's matchup might have some serious battles in the trenches.
