Stony Point hasn't had much luck against Cedar Ridge recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Tigers will welcome the Raiders at 7:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Stony Point is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against McNeil on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Tigers were dealt a 56-21 defeat at the hands of the Mavericks. The Tigers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-7.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Marcus Milligan, who rushed for 102 yards and a pair of scores. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Troyer, who threw for 298 yards and one TD while picking up 11.0 yards per attempt.
Meanwhile, after some red-hot attacks on offense in their last four contests, Cedar Ridge finally came back down to earth on Friday. They were outmatched by Round Rock and fell 40-12. The game marked the Raiders' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.
Stony Point will have to keep a close watch on Noah Devonish and Devin Patterson, a pair of players who had a big impact on Cedar Ridge's prior game. Devonish rushed for 123 yards on only 12 carries, while Patterson rushed for 62 yards and one touchdown. Devonish really tore up the turf during one magnificent 77-yard run.
Stony Point now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Cedar Ridge, they now also have a losing record of 2-3.
We should be in store for an exciting game as the two teams have no problem gaining yardage. Stony Point has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 374 total yards per game. However, it's not like Cedar Ridge struggles in that department as they've been averaging 428.4 total yards. With a pair of commanding offenses duking it out, the defenses are going to have their work cut out for them.
Stony Point couldn't quite finish off Cedar Ridge in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 and fell 24-21. Will the Tigers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more football content.
