Softball Recap: Boyd County Has No Trouble Against Tri-County North

It was a proper cat-fight when Boyd County challenged Tri-County North on Monday. Boyd County blew past Tri-County North 12-2. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by six runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Elyn Simpkins, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That home run was her first of the season. Grace Stephens was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI.

Simpkins wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Boyd County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. Boyd County is a perfect 6-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Boyd County is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. Tri-County North dropped their record down to 2-3 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
