Basha's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lucille Burt, who shot 56% from the field to rack up 14 points. That's the most points Burt has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Beckler, who went 6-for-13 on her way to 14 points along with eight boards and four steals.
Even though they lost, Basha smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 11 consecutive games.
Sunnyside found their leader in sophomore Dora Medina, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and ten rebounds. Those 18 points set a new season-high mark for Medina. Another player making a difference was Esabella Barajas, who scored eight points in addition to five boards and three steals.
Basha's defeat dropped their record down to 16-13. As for Sunnyside, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 20 of their last 22 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 28-3 record this season.
