Pershing County has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Lake Mead Academy Eagles at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
With a playoff game on the line, Pershing County rose to the challenge on Saturday. They didn't even let Lincoln County onto the board and left with a 20-0 victory.
Meanwhile, Lake Mead Academy had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 50.6 points), and they went ahead and made it eight on Saturday. They blew past Incline 58-0 at home. The match was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Lake Mead Academy had established a 55 point advantage.
Jerry Meyer iii continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 238 yards and seven touchdowns while completing 95% of his passes. Meyer iii is absolutely dominating the passing touchdown category: he's posted at least three every time he's taken the field this season. Antonio Spann also deserves a shout-out for his three touchdowns.
Pershing County pushed their record up to 9-3 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-9 North Tahoe and 1-6 Silver Stage (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 36.8% over those games). As for Lake Mead Academy, their win bumped their record up to 9-1.
