The Monticello Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were outmatched by Warwick at home and fell 54-17. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Monticello in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now lost six in a row.
Despite the loss, Monticello still got an impressive performance from Amiah Neails, who scored nine points.
Monticello has not been sharp recently as the team's lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season. As for Warwick, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 10-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Monticello will take on the Warriors at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Warwick's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Dragons at 6:30 p.m. on February 5th. Cornwall Central will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New York Rankings (they are ranked 359th, while the Wildcats are ranked 163rd).
