The Sutter Huskies fought the good fight in their overtime contest against the Oakmont Vikings on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 81-79. Despite running the score up even higher than they did last Friday (68), Sutter still had to take the loss.
When it comes to explaining why Sutter lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jagger Beck. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 39 points and 13 rebounds. Beck scored a full 49.4% of Sutter's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Naseem Bhatti was another key contributor, scoring 22 points.
Sutter's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Oakmont, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sutter is on the road again on Friday and play against Escalon at 7:30 p.m. on December 8th. Escalon presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Sutter in California (Escalon is ranked 123rd, while Sutter is ranked 805th). As for Oakmont, they will head out on the road to face off against Mira Loma at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
