Watauga came tearing into Thursday's contest with eight straight wins , and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Hickory Christian Academy Knights.
Watauga walked away with the win (and looked especially good in the fourth set). The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-27, 25-20, 25-10.
Leading Watauga to victory were Lilli Combs and Caroline Childers. Combs had 16 digs and three assists, while Childers had 18 digs and five assists. Those three assists gave Combs a new career-high. Kora Knight also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.
Watauga's victory bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Hickory Christian Academy, their loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Watauga will face off against Freedom at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
