Softball Recap: Timpanogos Has No Trouble Against Provo

Timpanogos came out on top against Provo on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive 13-run second inning. The Timberwolves put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 16-1 win. The victory continues a trend for the Timberwolves in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won six in a row.

Shaylie Lang was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. Lang was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Kaydance Pope was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Kale'a Nakayama, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double.

Timpanogos was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .600. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.

Timpanogos' record is now 16-7. As for Provo, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 12 of their last 13 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-17 record this season.

Timpanogos does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Provo, they will face off against Pine View at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on a ten-game losing streak.
