The Johnsburg Skyhawks will challenge the Lake Forest Scouts at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Johnsburg has four straight victories, Lake Forest has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Johnsburg will bounce into Thursday's game after beating Marian Central Catholic, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Skyhawks came out on top against the Hurricanes by a score of 4-1 on Monday. The game was the first time the Skyhawks have beaten the Hurricanes on their field since May 15, 2021.

Peyton Mesce tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April.
At the plate, Johnsburg saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dom Vallone, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, Lake Forest came up short against Libertyville on Tuesday, falling 11-2.
Lake Forest also got a good showing from Andrew Marks, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Marks also tossed no walks, which is notable because the Scouts are 4-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 8-15 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Bink Hartline was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Jack Lamberti also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Johnsburg pushed their record up to 21-7 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Lake Forest, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-16.
