The South Brunswick Cougars''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Hoggard, falling 56-0. While losing is never fun, South Brunswick can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 267th, while Hoggard is ranked 12th).
Hoggard had a senior duo take command as Hudson Wilharm threw for 250 yards and three touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes and M?kel Bellamy rushed for 63 yards and three touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake Edwards, who picked up 94 receiving yards and a touchdown.
South Brunswick's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 2-8. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 9.3 points per game. As for Hoggard, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-1.
South Brunswick will head out on the road to face off against West Brunswick at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. West Brunswick is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Hoggard, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against New Hanover at 7:00 p.m. New Hanover is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
