Softball Recap: Appalachian Starts Season with Win at Home

Appalachian took care of business in their home opener on Monday. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Cleveland Panthers. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Tori Atkinson looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Graci McGuire, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base. Trinity Day was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double.

Cleveland is on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

We've got a battle between Eagles coming up. As for Cleveland, they are taking a road trip to take on Susan Moore at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
