Minerva extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 6-12. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of the Carrollton Warriors. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-0 back in April.
Delaney Sell was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over 4.1 innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.
In other batting news, Adrianna Kashdan was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Kylie Hannen was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
As for Carrollton, their record now sits at 11-12. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted against Minerva since April 18, 2023.
On Carrollton's side, their victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Player #6, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one double. Those two runs gave Player #6 a new career-high. Another was Kearsten Ball, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Minerva will venture away from home to challenge Alliance at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Carrollton, they will head out to take on United at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Golden Eagles will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Warriors surely won't give up without a fight.
