Kyle Johnson and Joe Griffin provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Powder Valley. The connection was good for 76 yards, the longest such play in 1A Special District 4 (8 Man) this season.
Cove made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 586 from 696. The improvement was the result of a 34-22 victory over Pine Eagle last week.
Imbler's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Johnson threw for 298 and 4 touchdowns and Griffin had 165 yards receiving. On the ground Griffin contributed 151 yards. Klint Porter helped Imbler's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 90 yards.
He was 8-10 with 0 interception.
Johnson put up the best numbers in passing as the Panthers topped the Badgers. Johnson's favorite target this week was Griffin, who caught 3 passes for 165 yards.
Imbler's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Panthers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Johnson has thrown for 992 yards and 15 touchdowns this season, while Griffin has 16 catches for 384 yards.
The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between Powder Valley and the Spartans. The Badgers enters the contest ranked eighth in the state, while Pine Eagle ranks 21st.
Imbler's Griffin needs only 63 yards against Wallowa next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 86 carries Griffin has accumulated 937 yard this year.
Lee Lowe's team led the league in scoring this week after putting up 56 points on Powder Valley. Johnson ran for 15 yards in the win.
