The South Walton Seahawks will face off against the Wakulla War Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
As a matter of fact, South Walton put up the most points they have all season on Friday. They claimed a resounding 50-9 victory over Freeport. The win continues a trend for the Seahawks in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won six in a row.
William Justiss had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 178 yards and three scores while picking up 9.9 yards per carry, and also threw for two yards and one TD. Those three rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Gabe Parenton also deserves some recognition as he punched in his first rushing touchdown of the season.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something South Walton proved: they limited Freeport to a paltry 1.9 yards per carry. The team can thank Connor Rooney for the heroic effort on defense: he. South Walton didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 6.8.

South Walton didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Rooney. He has been hot for a while, having also posted five or more total tackles the last nine times he's played. Another thorn in Freeport's side was Jackson Moffatt, who picked up two sacks and made seven total tackles.
Meanwhile, Wakulla strolled past Godby with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 38-21.
Wakulla's win came from a few key players South Walton will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Owen Klees, who threw for 171 yards and four touchdowns, and also rushed for 81 yards on only 11 carries. He is becoming a predictor of Wakulla's success: when he posts at least three passing touchdowns the team is undefeated (and 1-2 when he doesn't). Jeremiah Washington was another key player, rushing for 165 yards.
One reason for the win was Wakulla's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Antonio Harvey was especially locked on to Godby's QB and sacked him twice. Harvey got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Wakulla's victory bumped their record up to 5-2. As for South Walton, their win bumped their record up to an identical 5-2.
South Walton was dealt a bruising 37-7 loss at the hands of Wakulla when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Will the Seahawks have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more football content.
