The Lanier Bulldogs won the last time they faced the Wingfield Falcons, and things went their way on Friday too. Lanier took down Wingfield 56-42. Given Lanier's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 117th, while Wingfield is ranked 254th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Several Falcons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Martavius Bennett, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Arrington, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
Lanier's win bumped their record up to 11-15. As for Wingfield, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-23.
Lanier will head out on the road to take on Greene County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Greene County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 on Friday. Wingfield does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
