The Colfax Bulldogs will take on the Asotin Panthers at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Colfax comes in on three and Asotin on seven.
Colfax came out on top against Reardan on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run third inning. The Bulldogs were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Screaming Eagles. Considering the Bulldogs have won seven contests by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Emeric Andersen was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Andersen was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Erik Christensen was excellent, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (two). Caden Inderrieden was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two runs and one RBI.
Colfax kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Reardan only managed seven.
Meanwhile, Asotin earned a 4-1 win over Liberty on Saturday. That's two games straight that the Panthers have won by exactly three runs.
Like Colfax, Asotin also got a great game from a two-way player: CODY ELLS. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 17 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. ELLS has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.
ELLS wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was WYATT SHAWLEY, who went 1-for-3 with one run. ISAIAH PFNISTER also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Asotin's victory bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Colfax, their win bumped their record up to 8-4.
Saturday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Colfax has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .433. However, it's not like Asotin struggles in that department as they've averaged .435. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Colfax beat Asotin 4-1 when the teams last played back in May of 2025. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
