Two dominant backs in Ronald Wilder Jr. and Jayden Roberts are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Greene County Tigers will take on the Vincent Yellow Jackets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Greene County has given up an average of 29.4 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Vincent will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Greene County extended their winning streak to three last Friday. The Tigers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 38-36 win over Isabella. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Tigers have posted since September 27, 2024.
It was another big night for Kelvies Snoddy, who threw for 297 yards and three TDs while completing 76.9% of his passes, and also rushed for 42 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Jordan Thomas was Snoddy's top target, picking up 101 receiving yards and one score, while also rushing for 41 yards.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Greene County was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 216 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 158 rushing yards in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Vincent didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Isabella on Friday, but they still walked away with a 33-28 win.
Greene County better keep an eye on Landon Archer. He was instrumental in Vincent's win, rushing for 253 yards and three TDs while picking up 14.9 yards per carry.
Vincent's record now sits at 6-2. As for Greene County, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Greene County has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 232.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Vincent struggles in that department as they've been averaging 251.2 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Greene County was able to grind out a solid win over Vincent in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, winning 32-24. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Yellow Jackets' Casen Fields, who rushed for 114 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be easier for the Tigers to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
