Northridge and Warsaw are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2021, but likely not for long. The Raiders will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against the Tigers at 5:30 p.m. Northridge is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
Northridge proved they can win big on Monday (they won by 11) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out Concord 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Raiders have posted since May 17, 2024.
JT Tabor spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits and racked up six Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Northridge's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Luke Mann, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one RBI.
Northridge hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in nine consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Warsaw unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of Carroll by a score of 7-6.
Warsaw also got a good showing from Zac Miller, who pitched 3.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits.
On the hitting side, Cohen Heady was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-6 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.
Warsaw's loss dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Northridge, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Wednesday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Northridge has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .482. However, it's not like Warsaw struggles in that department as they've averaged .476. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Northridge took their win against Warsaw in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 7-0 score. Do the Raiders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
