Football Recap: Garner Starts Season with Defeat on the Road + How To Watch

Garner kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They came up short against the Millbrook Wildcats, falling 34-13. If the Trojans were looking for revenge after losing 31-6 to the Wildcats when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Although Garner took the loss, they still got scores from Tayden McPhatter and Derek Taylor.

While Garner came up short, they sure didn't make it easy for Millbrook: they limited their QB to completion percentage of just 42.1%. The team can thank McPhatter for the heroic effort on defense: he. Garner wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 50%.

Garner didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of McPhatter and Taylor. McPhatter has been hot recently, having also posted two or more defended passes the last three times he's played. Taylor got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Brilison McCullers was nothing short of spectacular for Millbrook: he rushed for 85 yards and three TDs.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Garner will head out to face off against Laney at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Millbrook, they will venture away from home to square off against Heritage at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
