The Newtown Nighthawks lost against the Kolbe-Cathedral Cougars back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Newtown ended up on the wrong side of a tough 54-32 walloping at the hands of the Cougars. It was the first time this season that Newtown let down their fans at home.
Rachel Cherrington was her usual excellent self, scoring 13 points along with six assists and four steals for Kolbe-Cathedral. The team also got some help courtesy of Mi'Yah Bostic, who scored 12 points.
Newtown's loss ended a ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 14-3. As for Kolbe-Cathedral, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-5.
Newtown will head out on the road to square off against the Rebels at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Connecticut (New Fairfield is ranked 48th, while the Nighthawks are ranked 26th). As for Kolbe-Cathedral, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.
