Pinecrest proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by seven) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a run and slipped past the Central Davidson Spartans 5-4. Winning may never get old, but the Patriots sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Taylor Graves tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Eythan Reynolds was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run was his first of the season.
Pinecrest's record now sits at 17-7. As for Central Davidson, they moved to 18-6 with that defeat, which also ended their five-game winning streak.
