Softball Recap: Kingsford Gets the Win

While Kingsford's victory against Marquette wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Flivvers narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Redmen 8-7. The victory continues a trend for the Flivvers in their matchups with the Redmen: they've now won four in a row.

Mya Brunswick spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jenna Viau, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That double was her first of the season. Anna Bortolini was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Kingsford's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Marquette, their loss was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 8-4.

Kingsford will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Redmen: the pair will be back at it again later today.
