3A District 4 recap September 24, 2013
Lakeland Christian extended the longest winning streak in 3A District 4 this week by beating Berkeley Prep, 27-24. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Vikings.
Tampa Catholic was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to third in the league. The Crusaders beat Fort Meade 39-13 earlier in the week.
The Buccaneers' dynamic duo of Brad Mayes and Cade Weldon proved to be unstoppable against Lakeland Christian, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Mayes threw for 163 yards and 2 touchdowns and Weldon had 74 yards receiving. Jacob Mathis helped Berkeley Prep's passing attack out by catching 5 balls for 44 yards.
Berkeley Prep's dynamic duo of Mayes and Weldon proved tough for Wayne Peace's team to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
T. J. Simmons was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 133 yards on 13 carries as the Vikings fell to the Vikings. RB Marlow also contributed to the rushing game with 14 yards on the ground.
Mayes put up the best numbers in passing as the Buccaneers lost to Lakeland Christian.
Weldon was the best wideout in 3A District 4 this week as Berkeley Prep fell to the Vikings.
Lakeland Christian's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Vikings feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Christian Alexander has thrown for 615 yards and 7 touchdowns this season, while Brad Peace has 19 catches for 226 yards.
Frostproof took down Bishop McLaughlin Catholic 56-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
