Basketball Game Preview: Vallivue Falcons vs. Ridgevue Warhawks

The Vallivue Falcons and the Ridgevue Warhawks will compete for holiday cheer at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Vallivue is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 84-36 win over Wood River. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 46-22.

Dominik Betancourt was a one-man wrecking crew for Vallivue as he went 8 of 12 en route to 20 points. That's the most points Betancourt has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Xander Wilson, who went 6 for 11 on his way to 13 points.

Vallivue smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Ridgevue hadn't done well against Middleton recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Ridgevue came out on top against Middleton by a score of 68-55.

Ridgevue's win came from a few key players Vallivue will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kaimana Nielson, who posted 27 points. Dawson Phillips was another key player, putting up 16 points.

The victory got Vallivue back to even at 2-2. As for Ridgevue, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.

Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as both are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Vallivue hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 68 points per game. However, it's not like Ridgevue struggles in that department as they've been averaging 65.2 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
