Given Isle of Wight Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 110th, while Greenbrier Christian Academy is ranked 293rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Broadwater Academy posted their biggest victory yet this season on Friday. They blew past Holly Grove Christian 47-26.
It was another big night for Leah Smith, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. That makes it eight consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Broadwater Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kacey Ford, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Isle of Wight Academy's victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Broadwater Academy, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-5.
Isle of Wight Academy was able to grind out a solid victory over Broadwater Academy when the teams last played back in February of 2023, winning 37-27. Will Isle of Wight Academy repeat their success, or does Broadwater Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
