4A District 3 recap Sept. 26, 2012
Vinita was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from seventh to fifth in 4A District 3. The Hornets vanquished the Hornets 35-7 earlier in the week.
Cleveland moved up to 71 from 109 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. A 23-7 win over Webster helped the Tigers improve their standing.
McLain Science & Tech's dynamic duo of Demetri Walker and Bishop Louie proved tough for Miami to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Walker threw for 390 yards and five touchdowns and Louie had 139 yards receiving. Jaelen Bledsoe helped McLain Science & Tech's passing attack out by catching eight balls for 134 yards.
Chance Keim was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 25 carries, he ran for 151 yards as Oologah topped the Wardogs. Jimmy Mckinney also contributed to the rushing game with 48 yards on the ground.
Cleveland's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Tigers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Chas Stallard has thrown for 909 yards and 10 touchdowns this season, while Derek Reeves has 16 catches for 436 yards. Stallard also leads the league in rushing with 334 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when McLain Science & Tech takes on Wagoner. As it stands, Jarvis Payne 's team is in first, while the Bulldogs are in third.
The Titans extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Miami, 41-15. The victory was the fourth in a row for McLain Science & Tech.
