Even though the Jena Giants have not done well against the Marksville Tigers recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Jena slipped by Marksville 43-42. The win was familiar territory for Jena who now have three in a row.
Marksville's loss came despite strong showings from Laylla Dorsey and Anneshia Reed. Dorsey scored 21 points along with two steals, while Reed dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. That was a full 50% of Marksville's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Jena's win bumped their record up to 11-12. As for Marksville, they now have a losing record at 7-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jena will take on Buckeye at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Marksville, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Bunkie at 6:00 p.m. on February 9th. Bunkie is coming into the contest with four straight victories on the road, meaning Marksville will have to defend against a team hungry for a win.
