Section 5 City-Catholic recap Sept. 26, 2012
East/School of the Arts/Dr. Thomas was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fourth to second in Section 5 City-Catholic. Earlier in the week, the Orientals defeated Marshall/Charlotte 35-0.
Wilson Magnet/School Without Walls moved up to 210 from 463 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Wildcats climbed the ranks as a result of a 16-0 win over the Wildcats.
The Jurists' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Jason Howard threw for 58 yards and DeAnthony Terell had 25 yards receiving. On the ground Howard chipped in 42 yards. Justice Flager helped Marshall/Charlotte's passing attack out by catching two balls for 18 yards.
Marshall/Charlotte's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Jurists feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Howard has thrown for 203 yards this season, while Flager has eight catches for 134 yards. Howard also leads the league in rushing with 251 yards.
A big matchup in Section 5 City-Catholic this week will be when Wilson Magnet/School Without Walls takes on McQuaid Jesuit. The Wildcats are currently in first, while the Knights are in third.
Wilson Magnet/School Without Walls made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 7,048 from 11,823. The advance stemmed from a 16-0 victory over the Wildcats last week.
