Kellen Overstreet of Penney (Hamilton, Mo.) saw his record-setting career come to an end last week, but not before making the National Football Stat Stars list for one last time.
Overstreet rushed for 306 yards and four touchdowns in his final game, a 48-39 loss to Westran (Huntsville, Mo.) to give him 4,259 yards rushing for the season. That total ranks fourth all-time nationally and is a Missouri state record.
Overstreet also came just one touchdown away from tying the national record of 71 in a season. His 70 touchdowns are also a state record.
Meanwhile in Oklahoma, Locust Grove's Mason Fine threw for 357 yards in a 40-32 win over Berryhill (Tulsa). With 4,261 yards on the season, Fine becomes the first quarterback in Oklahoma history to throw for over 4,000 yards in a season.
In Mississippi, Myles Brennan became the third quarterback in state history to throw for over 5,000 yards in a season. With 401 yards in a 42-21 win over Forrest County Agricultural (Forest, Miss.), Brennan upped his season total to 5,008 yards. Brennan is 503 yards off of the state record, which is also the school record. Dylan Favre, the nephew of NFL great Brett Favre, threw for 5,511 yards in 2009.
Brennan, who plays this week against Purvis, is just the second sophomore in national history to ever throw for over 5,000 yards in a season. Jake Browning of Folsom is the other.
