The Anderson Indians will take on the Alexandria-Monroe Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Anderson has given up an average of 10.6 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Anderson fell victim to Pendleton Heights and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They came up short against the Arabians, falling 11-0. The Indians have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, Alexandria-Monroe strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They walked away with a 6-2 victory over Frankton. That's two games straight that the Tigers have won by exactly four runs.
Brynlee Humphries spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, Riley Thomas was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Kinley Webb, who went 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Alexandria-Monroe's win was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average this season. As for Anderson, they now have a losing record of 2-3.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Anderson hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .341. However, it's not like Alexandria-Monroe struggles in that department as they've averaged .466. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Anderson suffered a grim 9-1 defeat to Alexandria-Monroe in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Indians have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
