The California Grizzlies will challenge the Alameda Hornets at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (California 2, Alameda 2.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
California had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt Clayton Valley Charter on Thursday. California blew past Clayton Valley Charter 12-5. The result was nothing new for the Grizzlies, who have now won three games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Audrey Cotton tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits over 4.2 innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up a single earned run any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Alina Curiel, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jayda Crosby, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs.
California always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .513. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Alameda had taken Castro Valley down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Tuesday. Alameda fell just short of Castro Valley by a score of 4-3. The Hornets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Julia Lambert spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up eight Ks.
At the plate, Desiree Shoblo made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Wong, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
California is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. Alameda's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3.
California couldn't quite get it done against Alameda when the teams last played back in March of 2024 as they fell 7-2. Will California have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
