The Brandeis Broncos will venture away from home to square off against the SA Roosevelt Rough Riders at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Brandeis barely beat Madison the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Broncos took their contest on Saturday with ease, bagging a 48-21 victory over the Mavericks. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 28-7.

Jaron Morris produced another solid performance rushing for 222 yards and four scores while picking up 8.9 yards per carry. Thanks to that big game, he is now up to 17 rushing touchdowns on the season. Layne Watkins did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 113 receiving yards.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Brandeis was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 347 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 242 rushing yards in three consecutive games.
Brandeis' defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Lukas Wheeler, Jayden Villarreal, and Robert Spears, who each picked up one sack apiece. Brandeis got some further help from Wheeler: he picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made ten total tackles.
Meanwhile, SA Roosevelt had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They came out on top against the Cougars by a score of 42-31.
SA Roosevelt's win came from a few key players Brandeis will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Ernest Smith, who rushed for 87 yards and three TDs. Xavion Chambers was another key player, rushing for 43 yards and one touchdown.
SA Roosevelt didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Darren Vu, Rayne Russell-Fields, Malcolm Rogers, and Tyler Gissendanner picked up one apiece. Russell-Fields is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least six every time he's taken the field this season.
Brandeis' record now sits at 6-2. As for SA Roosevelt, their record is now 3-5.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Brandeis has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 278.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like SA Roosevelt struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 202 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for Brandeis against SA Roosevelt when the teams last played back in November of 2024, as the squad secured a 51-7 win. In that game, the Broncos amassed a halftime lead of 24-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
