While Papillion-LaVista South's win against Omaha Westside wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Papillion-LaVista South skirted past Omaha Westside 2-1. The two-run effort marked the Titans' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
The team relied heavily on Emmett Minderman, who went 2-for-3 with one home run. Michael Jellen also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Lincoln Southwest didn't have quite enough to beat Millard South on Wednesday and fell 7-5. The loss put an end to the Silver Hawks' undefeated start to the season.
Lincoln Southwest also got a good showing from Kaden Millard, who pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
On the hitting side, Alex Vokoun was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run. Ty Phillips was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
Even though they lost, Lincoln Southwest hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts every time they've taken the field this season.
Papillion-LaVista South pushed their record up to 5-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Lincoln Southwest, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Papillion-LaVista South has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Lincoln Southwest struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
