Basketball Recap: KIPP P Comes Up Short

KIPP P was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 75-66 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rocky Mount Prep Jaguars. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (61), the Pride still had to take the loss.

Despite the loss, KIPP P still got an impressive performance from Tyrese Holmes, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine rebounds. With that strong performance, Holmes is now averaging an impressive 15.3 points per game. Another player making a difference was Marquis Clements, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.

Rocky Mount Prep's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaylan Barfield, who posted 19 points. Rashyd Johnson was another key player, putting up 17 points.

KIPP P's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Rocky Mount Prep, they moved to 3-6 with that victory, which also ended their five-game losing streak.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. KIPP P will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Weldon at 7:30 p.m. on January 17th. As for Rocky Mount Prep, they will challenge Warren County at 7:30 p.m. on January 14th. Rocky Mount Prep is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 67 points per game this season.
