Ell-Saline (Brookville, Kan.) kept up a steady attack all game long to beat Moundridge (Kan.), 50-6, on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Justin Schmutz in the first quarter, the Cardinals led 28-0 at the half.
Ell-Saline expanded its lead to 42 points entering the fourth quarter. ES scored three times in the third, including once on a touchdown pass by
Garrett Walker to
Toby Omli.
Omli was the top performer for the Brookville school. The senior ran for three touchdowns and caught one touchdown. He has now scored six touchdowns on the season.
The Wildcats' lone touchdown came on a 16-yard run in the fourth quarter.
The victory will ease some of the sting of the Cardinals' close 18-15 loss to Moundridge last season.
With the win Ell-Saline extended its winning streak to three games.
Moundridge (0-3) will play a Heart of America game against Bennington next week, while Ell-Saline (3-0) will take on Sedgwick also in a Heart of America game.
