The Skyline Raiders will be playing at home against the Mansfield Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Skyline and five for Mansfield.
The matchup between Skyline and Duncanville on Friday hardly resembled the 2-0 effort from their previous meeting. Skyline was beaten by Duncanville 84-41. Skyline was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 55-19.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Naiya Carney, who scored 13 points along with two steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ke'liyah L anderson, who scored eight points.
Mansfield suffered their biggest loss yet this season last Tuesday. They had to suffer through a rough 74-33 loss at the hands of Duncanville. While losing is never fun, Mansfield can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 474th, while Duncanville is ranked first).
Skyline bumped their record down to 13-14 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Mansfield, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-14 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Skyline against Mansfield in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 58-26 win. Will Skyline repeat their success, or does Mansfield have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
