Even though the Potosi Trojans have not done well against the Central Rebels recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Potosi rang in the new year with a 82-71 victory over Central. The win was all the more spectacular given Potosi's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 151st, while Central is ranked 18th).
When it comes to explaining why Central lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jobe Bryant. Despite the final result, he scored 29 points along with six assists and five rebounds. Bryant scored a full 40.8% of Central's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Caden Casey, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Potosi's win bumped their record up to 9-3. As for Central, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-2.
Potosi will take on Union at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Union is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. As for Central, they will take on MICDS at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. MICDS will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
