Lamar has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against The Pottsville Apaches at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Lamar's game on Friday was all tied up 7-7 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They took a 20-13 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mayflower.
Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Pottsville's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They and Central Arkansas Christian were almost perfectly matched up, but Pottsville suffered an agonizing 44-43 loss. Despite running the score up even higher than they did two Fridays ago (40), Pottsville still had to take the loss.
Lamar's victory was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 4-2. To be fair, it's not like the team was facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-6 Huntsville and 0-7 Waldron (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 19% over those games). As for Pottsville, their win was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 5-2-1.
Lamar came up short against Pottsville in their previous matchup back in October of 2022, falling 27-21. Can Lamar avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
