Having just played yesterday, the Round Mountain Knights will head out on the road to face off against the Beatty Hornets at 5:30 p.m. on January 26th. Round Mountain has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Round Mountain scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They enjoyed a cozy 72-55 win over American Heritage Academy. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Round Mountain's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Keiran Swafford, who scored 25 points along with two steals. Swafford is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games he's played. Blake Bullington was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with six steals and five assists.
Meanwhile, Beatty's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their seventh straight loss. They took a 45-27 bruising from Indian Springs.
Despite their loss, Beatty saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Reese Taylor, who scored eight points, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Oscar Lopez, who scored eight points.
Round Mountain has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. As for Beatty, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-10.
Round Mountain strolled past Beatty when the teams last played back in February of 2023 by a score of 60-46. The rematch might be a little tougher for Round Mountain since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
