The Berry Cardinal will head out on the road to challenge the Palisades Pumas at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
Berry suffered their biggest defeat since December 4, 2023 on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a rough 56-20 loss at the hands of Myers Park. While losing is never fun, Berry can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 465th, while Myers Park is ranked fourth).
Meanwhile, Palisades scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They blew past West Mecklenburg 67-18 on the road. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Palisades has managed all season.
Tynilla Simpkins and Jala Jones were among the main playmakers for Palisades as the former dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds and the latter scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals. Simpkins is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last ten games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklyn Young, who scored 11 points along with six assists and two steals.
Berry's defeat was their tenth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-12. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 26.1 points per game. Palisades' record now sits at 7-11.
Berry suffered a grim 48-23 defeat to Palisades when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Can Berry avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
