The Milford Eagles will head out to challenge the Loveland Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Milford is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.
Milford had taken Anderson down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Thursday. The Eagles fell 6-2 to the Raptors. The loss continues a trend for the Eagles in their meetings with the Raptors: they've now lost three in a row.
Milford got a good showing from Zach Wiener, who tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.
At the plate, Milford saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was David Kittrell, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Kittrell is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Loveland faced off against Blanchester on Tuesday. The Tigers walked away with an 8-5 victory over the Wildcats. Winning may never get old, but the Tigers sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Ryan Chevalier looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits.
On the hitting side, Loveland let Derek Fleming and Blake Carrigan run wild. Fleming went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Carrigan went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double. CJ Margraf was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Loveland lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since the start of last season.
Loveland's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-6. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Milford, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-9.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Milford hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .314. However, it's not like Loveland struggles in that department as they've averaged .320. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
