The Centennial Broncos scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They snuck past Malcolm with a 53-49 win. The victory was nothing new for Centennial as they're now sitting on five straight.
Centennial's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Devin Slawnyk, who scored 16 points along with nine rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Slawnyk has scored at least 25% of Centennial's points. Another player making a difference was Alex Hirschfeld, who scored 12 points.
Despite the loss, Malcolm still got an impressive performance from Carson Frank, who scored 25 points. Frank continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddox Meyer, who scored nine points.
Centennial pushed their record up to 6-2 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Malcolm, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-2.
Centennial won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Auburn at 7:30 p.m. on December 30, 2023. Auburn knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully Centennial likes a good challenge. Malcolm will finish 2023 at home by hosting Oakland-Craig at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Oakland-Craig will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 174th, while Malcolm is ranked 43rd).
