The Creek Wood Red Hawks will head out on the road to square off against the McNairy Central Bobcats at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Creek Wood sitting on nine straight victories and McNairy Central on eight.
On Monday, Creek Wood was able to grind out a solid win over Lexington, taking the game 6-3.
Elizabeth Martin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on three hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Kendal Bryant was excellent, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged two or more in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lilly Killebrew, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
Creek Wood hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in 18 consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but McNairy Central had no problem doing just that on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Yellowjackets a 5-0 shutout.
Bailee Shelton made a big impact no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 19 over seven innings pitched. Those 19 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three doubles and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Paige Mercer, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Linlee Davidson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Creek Wood pushed their record up to 28-12 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for McNairy Central, their record is now 22-8.
Creek Wood came out on top in a nail-biter against McNairy Central when the teams last played back in May of 2024, sneaking past 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Red Hawks since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
