After flying high against the Hathaway Brown Blazers last Thursday, the Gilmour Academy Lancers came back down to earth. Gilmour Academy fell 58-45 to Fairland on Monday.
Fairland's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kylee Bruce led the charge by scoring 16 points along with four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Godby, who scored 11 points along with five assists and two steals.
Gilmour Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Fairland, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-1.
Gilmour Academy won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Lutheran East at 2:30 p.m. on January 16th. Lutheran East will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 188th, while Gilmour Academy is ranked 38th). As for Fairland, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Rock Hill at 6:00 p.m. Rock Hill is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
