The Lake Blue Streaks will be playing at home against the GlenOak Golden Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lake is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak.
Lake pushed their score all the way to 55 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 59-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Canton Central Catholic. While losing is never fun, Lake can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 462nd, while Canton Central Catholic is ranked 164th).
Meanwhile, winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 12 to 4 on the offensive boards, a fact GlenOak proved on Tuesday. They skirted past Austintown-Fitch 53-50.
The match pitted two dominant guards against one another in Ja'Corey Lipkins and Marcel Finkley. Lipkins had a great game and scored 31 points along with eight rebounds. Meanwhile, Finkley was balling out in the loss, scoring 24 points.
Lake's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-15. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.0 points per game. As for GlenOak, their win bumped their record up to 13-5.
Things could have been worse for Lake, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 58-44 loss to GlenOak in their previous meeting back in January.
