Cibola hasn't had much luck against Eldorado recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Cougars will take on the Golden Eagles at 3:30 p.m. Cibola has given up an average of 7.3 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Cibola will bounce into Thursday's game after beating Sandia, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Cougars came out on top against the Matadors by a score of 14-11 on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cougars.
Beau Segotta made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four). He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aidan De La O, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Daiden Chee also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Cibola always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .611. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Eldorado not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since April 7, 2025 (when they won 21-2). They were the clear victors by a 20-4 margin over Los Alamos.
Eldorado let Sebastian Mestas and Eric Yturbe run wild. Mestas went 3-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and one triple, while Yturbe got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Sullivan Wilson, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two doubles and one RBI.
Cibola's record is now 2-4. As for Eldorado, their record now sits at 2-0-1.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Cibola hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .329. However, it's not like Eldorado struggles in that department as they've averaged .367. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Cibola suffered a grim 10-4 defeat to Eldorado when the teams last played back in March of 2025. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
