Kellogg dropped their record down to 5-5 on Thursday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They fell just short of Watervliet by a score of 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat Kellogg has suffered since May 16, 2024.

As for Watervliet, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 14-2. That's two games straight that they have won by exactly two runs.

For Watervliet's part, Ethan Westfall made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single hit and allowed only one earned run while striking out nine over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Westfall has posted since back in April. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.

In other batting news, Caleb Jewell was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two RBI. Emmett Williams was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Watervliet beat Kellogg by a score of 10-0 later that day.
